Bradbury Electrical was tasked with completing the electrical package for the dementia ward at Salvington Lodge in Worthing, a project focused on providing a safe and comfortable environment for patients with dementia. Scope of Work

Bradbury Electrical’s involvement in the project was comprehensive, including a wide array of electrical systems designed to improve both the operational efficiency of the ward and the overall safety of its occupants. The key elements of the electrical package included:

Main Switch Room & Distribution: The first part of the electrical work involved setting up the main switch room and distributing electrical power throughout the ward. This system ensures that the entire facility is safely powered, from lighting and small power outlets to more complex systems like the nurse call and fire alarm systems. The main switch room is a critical area, housing circuit breakers and distribution boards that control and protect the electrical supply to the building.
Sub Mains: Sub mains were installed to distribute electricity from the main switchboard to different areas of the dementia ward. These sub mains ensured that power was efficiently and safely delivered to key parts of the building, such as patient rooms, staff areas, and communal spaces, ensuring consistent and reliable power supply to essential services.
Induction Loop System: An Induction Loop System was installed to assist individuals with hearing impairments. In healthcare settings like dementia wards, it is crucial to ensure that all patients, including those with hearing difficulties, can communicate effectively with staff. Induction loops enhance sound clarity by transmitting audio directly to hearing aids, which ensures that patients can hear important announcements or instructions, promoting inclusion and reducing frustration.
Access Control: Security and patient safety are paramount in a dementia care environment, and the Access Control System helps regulate who can enter certain areas of the building. This system was designed to protect both patients and staff by restricting access to restricted or sensitive areas, such as medication storage, staff offices, and patient rooms. TV System: The installation of a TV System allowed for entertainment and communication within patient rooms and common areas. It also contributes to the overall comfort of the space, offering a familiar, comforting environment for the residents.
Containment Systems: To ensure that all electrical wiring is safely and neatly organized, a Containment System was installed. This included cable trays, ducts, and conduits designed to protect electrical wiring from damage and to keep the facility organized and safe. Proper containment reduces the risk of electrical hazards and ensures that maintenance is easier and less disruptive.
PV System (Photovoltaic System): A Photovoltaic (PV) System was installed to provide renewable energy for the ward, reducing the building's dependence on external energy sources and helping to minimize its carbon footprint. The PV system supports sustainability efforts while also contributing to long-term cost savings on electricity bills, which is important for healthcare facilities with ongoing energy needs.
Small Power: The Small Power installation involved providing power outlets throughout the ward, ensuring that essential equipment such as medical devices, lights, and appliances can be powered safely.
